IMPORTANT! Eligibility
Travel Grants of up to € 500 can be applied for by Young Investigators, provided that all of the following criteria are met:

• under the age of 35;
• Applicants must have submitted an abstract before applying for the travel grant. Only applicants whose abstracts have been accepted for an oral or poster presentation will be considered
• during the congress, daily registration of attendance obligatory.

In the Council Meeting which took place in Barcelona, Spain in May 2001, the councillors “proposed to award a travel grant to persons who submitted an excellent abstract. Generally, travel grants should be awarded to people from Eastern European countries because of their uneasy financial situation. When people from Eastern Europe will have no contact with the rest of Europe, it could be very difficult for them to do their job properly. Sponsoring them really is necessary.”

This initiative was to stimulate young scientists and medical students to obtain chances to investigate their fields of research and since then ESCI Travel Grants was established.
