The European Society for Clinical Investigation (ESCI) will award one Exploratory Grant per year to support translational research covering one of the area of interest of the society, which is conducted in one European institution.
Application portal will open on December 1, 2026
Eligibility:
- Applicants must be under 40 years old at the time of submitting their application.
- Applicants must be an ESCI member based in Europe
- Basic or clinical researchers residing in Europe.
Granted amount and admitted expenses:
The winner of the Grant will receive 10.000. Admitted expenses are consumables, equipment and publishing fees.
80% of the price will be paid out after the Annual Scientific Meeting of in the winning year and the remaining 20% will be paid after presenting the full report of the project 12 months later during the ASM.
Travel and Hotel should be allocated in the Grant money when presenting the full results.
Exclusions:
Older than 40 years old, residence outside of Europe.
Applicants should submit online:

Time frame application:
The call will open December every year and the winner will be communicated during the ASM (June). The project should be implemented in a maximum of 12 months and a full report should be sent to ESCI up to 60 days after the end of the project.
Evaluation:
A committee composed by four ESCI Council Members (basic and clinical research) will evaluate the applications.
Prizes:
The selected applicant will win 10.000 Euro. 80% of the prize will be paid out after the announcement and the remaining 20% after presenting the project at the ESCI ASM.
