The Albert Struyveberg Medal is awarded for outstanding achievements in the field of Clinical Investigation, in line with the spirit of the founding fathers of ESCI, established on February 12th 1967.

The Society named the Award after one of its founding fathers, Prof. dr. Albert Struyvenberg, who achieved excellence in clinical science, teaching of young scientists and medical specialists. His portrait is depicted on one side of the medal.
