Academiegebouw3

Dear colleagues, dear friends,

It is my great pleasure to announce the organization of the next ESCI Annual meeting in my home town, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The days are not definitively set but in April or early May we will meet again here.

Cluj-Napoca is two thousand years old city, with an amazing history and a bright development. It hosts several universities and accommodates more than 100,000 students from all continents (every fourth inhabitant is a student). That makes downtown Cluj-Napoca to look as a students’ campus.

The medical school has the roots in a Jesuite Collegium founded by Maria Theresia and had an important role in the training of many students for more than 150 years here in Central Europe.

Tradition and innovation are linked together in this city and in the Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy of this city.

The good position of this city in the Western Romanian province of Transylvania, with a multicultural background and composition, situated in the arch of the Carpathian Mountains, with pleasant climate mainly in spring, makes him a wonderful venue for any meeting. Cluj-Napoca has a busy international airport and can also be reached by car or train.

We will do our utmost in assuring an exquisite scientific program, in a perfect venue and will offer also the possibility to feel the culture and the gastronomy of our area.

Therefore we are confident that the next ESCI Annual meeting will be a success from any point a view.
Welcome thus to the 49th Annual Scientific Meeting of ESCI in Cluj-Napoca, Romania in the spring of 2015!

Yours,
Prof. Dan L. Dumitrascu
Past vice-president ESCI Council
President elect, Romanian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology
